Andres Iniesta, Midfielder for FC Barcelona (in Spanish): "It's an honour. It's a privilege to be a part of this organisation because of the work it does, the values it promotes, because it wants education for all children and the opportunity for the most disadvantaged of those children to grow and improve as people." Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Goalkeeper for FC Barcelona (in English): "I think it means a lot for us to help children to be the persons they want to be." Hugo, young boy (in English): "Do you think I can grow up to be like you?" Andres Iniesta, Midfielder for FC Barcelona (in Spanish):"I think the most important thing is not to be like someone else but to be yourself. For me, it was very important to become a good player but I'd like it if people – or at least the people who care about me – will remember the other side of me, the side of me outside of the game. A football career only lasts about thirty years but I hope I'll be remembered for being a good person." Barcelona favourite Andres Iniesta and goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen attended an event hosted by UNICEF in Los Angeles, Tuesday, where they discussed the sport of football along with global child welfare and development. The event was attended by dozens of children, with one young girl asking Iniesta what the partnership between FC Barcelona and UNICEF personally means to him. "It's an honour," he responded, a "privilege" to be part of an organisation that "promotes" and educates "disadvantaged" children throughout the world. Ter Stegen responded with similar comments, saying it "means a lot for us to help children to be the persons they want to be." The partnership between FC Barcelona and UNICEF began in September 2006 when an agreement was signed for a period of five years between the two parties. The agreement resulted in FC Barcelona breaking with tradition by having a sponsor on the front of its shirt for the first time in the clubs history. The partnership sees the club pay UNICEF €1.5 million ($1.64 million) a year in order to combat AIDS and global poverty. Barcelona and UNICEF renewed their agreement in 2011, despite the former signing a lucrative sponsorship deal with the Qatar Foundation. Iniesta & co kick off their US tour when they face LA Galaxy on Tuesday. Luis Enrique's outfit then depart for San Francisco on Wednesday 22 before facing Manchester United at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on July 25. The final match of the tour comes three days later on July 28 when Barcelona face Chelsea in Washington DC before they return to the Catalan capital of Barcelona on July 29. Brazilian sensation Neymar and 2015 Ballon d'Or favourite Lionel Messi will both miss the pre-season tour due to their exploits in the summer's Copa America.
