The woman taken hostage by an armed inmate in Lubeck Prison in the northern German port city of Lubeck was rescued and is uninjured, confirmed a police spokesperson as he spoke to journalists outside the prison on Monday.
The perpetrator, 36-year-old Romanian Danilo P, was serving time for a sexual offence. He was lightly injured after special police forces subdued him. The woman, believed to be a psychologist, is receiving medical attention.
