Eighteen-year-old Ahmed Mortada from the Yemeni city Taiz spends most of his time inventing new machines and tools out of cardboards and plastic, footage filmed on Wednesday shows.
The teenager showed off his cartoonish robot which works using hydraulics, an mini electric bike as well as a crane.
Mortada said his creativity "started with the internet where I watched videos of how they invent small and simple machines."
Mortada currently works at a cafe to help his family financially, but the young Yemeni has bigger dreams.
"It would be great if I travelled out to another country to study outside, because I want to learn new techniques to make new inventions," Mortada said.
He refuses to give up on his dreams despite limited resources caused by the ongoing Yemeni civil war.
