An explosion at a Kurdish opposition party rally in Diyarbakir, Friday, has reportedly killed two and injured up to 100 people just days before parliamentary elections are due to take place. The cause of the explosion has not been verified but Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has ordered an investigation into the nature of the blast. The Kurdish People's Democracy Party (HDP) is attempting to be the first Kurdish party in Turkey's history to pass the 10 percent threshhold of votes required to take seats in parliament. If reached, the HDP could threaten the ruling AK Party's parliamentary supermajority and threaten plans to push through constitutional reform to transform Turkey from a parliamentary democracy into a presidential system. Unconfirmed reports suggested there was a second blast five minutes after the first. Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz suggested that the blast was no accident. It is not possible to verify the information as yet.
