Supreme Court Halts Controversial Texas Abortion Law

The Supreme Court has blocked a Texas law that would have shuttered several of the state's remaining abortion clinics. The decision, issued Monday, temporarily halts enforcement of key provisions of HB2, a 2013 law that imposed significant restrictions on facilities that provide abortion care in Texas. State Sen. Wendy Davis, a Democrat from Fort Worth, staged an unsuccessful marathon filibuster of the legislation, and it has since faced several court challenges.
