Less than a year after acquiring online video site DramaFever for $100 million, Japanese telecom and media giant SoftBank has quietly put the service back up for sale.
Citing unnamed sources close to the talks, The Wall Street Journal reported that Warner Bros. and Barry Diller’s IAC are among the suitors looking at possibly buying a majority stake in the online video company. the Journal said SoftBank would like to retain a "significant minority stake."
SoftBank declined to comment on the reports.
DramaFever saw explosive growth in the years leading up to the SoftBank buyout. The streaming service focuses on Korean and Spanish-language TV dramas in addition to other international TV and movie titles.
