Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) held a military exercise to test missile systems, in the Dasht-e Kavir desert, Monday, with the footage broadcast on state television.
Iranian artillery, air defence and infantry units participated in the military exercises with the codename 'Payambar-e-A'azam 11' ('the Great Prophet 11'). The Revolutionary Guards official website said that the aim of the military exercise was to "demonstrate power and enduring stability."
According to Iranian state media, the exercises challenged the intelligence command and defensive readiness of the IRGC "against potential incursions."
On February 3, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer announced that the US had sanctioned 25 individuals and entities "that provide support to Iran's ballistic missile programme and the Islamic Revolutionary Quds Force," after Trump accused Iran of "playing with fire," when he stressed that Iranian authorities "don't appreciate how 'kind' President Obama was to them."
