State of Palestine: Israeli crackdown on Palestinian media outlet sparks protest in Ramallah

Protesters gathered outside the offices of Palestine Today news station in Ramallah, Saturday, to demonstrate against a raid on the building carried out by Israeli security forces on Friday.
During the raid, Israeli authorities arrested the station's director, Farooq Aliat and ordered the closing of the sub-station. In a statement, Israel's Shin Bet internal security agency said that the news station served to incite the West Bank population.
The raid and closure are part of an ongoing Israeli crackdown on pro-Palestinian media operations, with authorities shutting down three local radio stations in West Bank cities since October 2015, and stifling the ability of Palestinian media, including state-run Al Aqsa TV, to broadcast to other countries.
