Hundreds of Peruvians took to the streets of Lima Monday night in protest against a meeting between the IMF and World Bank and their relation to Conga mining disaster. The action further commemorated the mining disaster itself, in which a truck accidentally spilt toxic materials leading to severe health problems among the local population, with no company ever being prosecuted. Both the IMF and World Bank at the time had shares within the Conga mining and are therefore held accountable by villagers. The protest was organised via Facebook and there are plans underway to orchestrate a larger rally on Friday, October 9.
