Ukraine: Radical Party’s 'Tariff Maidan' continues camping on Kiev's streets

27.10.2015
Oleg Lyashko's Radical Party supporters hung around the tents of the protest camp outside the Cabinet of Ministers building in Kiev, Tuesday, demanding that the government slash utility prices. Party activists could be seen gathered around food and drink stalls, as well as attending to a concert in a make-shift stage at the premises, after the camp was initially set up one week ago, on Wednesday. Many flags of Lyashko's Radical Party were flown atop of the tents. The Radical Party was set up by Oleg Lyashko in 2010 and holds 22 seats in the Ukrainian parliament. Although the party became a member of the coalition supporting the current second Yatsenyuk Government, they left it on 1 September 2015 in protest over a vote in parliament involving a change to the Ukrainian Constitution that would lead to decentralisation and greater powers for the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DNR/DPR and LNR/LPR).
