Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia and Turkey both "stand for the earliest cessation of bloodshed in Syria", while speaking at a press statement on the side-lines of the World Energy Congress 2016, in Istanbul, on Monday.
"Everybody, who wants peace, should support this proposal," said Putin. He underlined that Russia and Turkey agreed "to do everything to deliver humanitarian aid to Aleppo."
Also, Russia and Turkey agreed "to support de Mistura's initiative on the withdrawal of military units which refuse to lay down their arms, from Aleppo in order to end violence."
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pointed out that Putin and he discussed the strategy "to help from a humanitarian point of view the inhabitants in Aleppo".
Before the press briefing, Turkish and Russian President signed the gas pipeline agreement 'Turkish Stream', which was suspended in 2015. The negotiations on the projects resumed in July 2016, when the Russian-Turkish relationship began to be restored.
Russia announced the project in 2014 as a replacement for 'South Stream', which was abandoned due to the disputes between Russia and the European Union.
