The Director of Communications at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Mark Adams spoke about security measures regarding the Zika virus, during a press conference in Lausanne, Wednesday.
Adams said that "the cases of infection by the mosquito responsible for Zika have dropped dramatically over the period of the games," adding that "we follow the recognised global authority on health, which is the World Health Organisation."
He went on to address Kuwait's suspension by saying that "we believe that Kuwait will remain suspended so we need to analyse the situation for the athletes.""
The executive board meeting will run for three days. Participants are set to push forward the addition of five new sports to the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, including karate, baseball-softball, surfing, sport climbing and roller skating.
