Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke from Moscow with Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner who was in Buenos Aires, by means of teleconference, on Wednesday, to celebrate 130 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During the teleconference Putin spoke on the "solid foundation" in the countries' relations which have been “formed in recent years.” The Russian president added that the two countries today have the opportunity "to develop the strategic partnership and strengthen business and humanitarian relations," adding that "Argentine companies are expanding their presence on Russian markets.” He went on to say that from the Russian side "the certificate for the importation from Argentina of high quality beef," was approved last year. From her side Argentine President Cristina Kirchner congratulated the Russian leader for his "excellent" speech at the UN General Assembly. "It was great. It contrasted from the other countries' [leaders'] speeches which typically say one thing and do another "said Kirchner, adding that she liked his "seriousness and the consequences" in the fight against global terrorism. Vladimir Putin replied saying “Gracias” in Spanish to his Argentine counterpart.
