Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini met with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Wednesday during a two-day visit to the country which started with a security briefing at the northern border.
The two leaders shook hands, with Netanyahu showing a map of Israel to Salvini before holding talks.
Salvini and Netanyahu allegedly discussed issues related to security, including Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, after the Italian Interior Minister and head of far-right League party sparked criticism in Italy by calling them a "terrorist" group in comments supporting Israel.
Italy is currently leading the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping force on the border between Israel and Lebanon.
